WE CONDUCT UN AND AS/NZS 2906 TESTING

Fuel containers must be tested and marked correctly

Potable fuel containers must be tested and UN marked in accord with the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods. Furthermore, it's an industry standard that portable fuel containers are tested to AS/NZS 2906.

WE CONSULT ON AND CONDUCT PRELIMINARY TESTING

Reduce risk with preliminary testing

Fuel containers require a lot of testing in a specific sequence. Because of this, we encourage our clients to perform preliminary (or in-house) testing so that failures are detected early, saving them time and money.

WE CONDUCT D.O.D. TESTING

Department of Defence testing

Department of Defence's requires modifications to the AS/NZS 2906 test methods and the inclusion of the penetration resistance test.

Common fuel container tests

  • Comparability test for elastomeric components
  • Mass loss
  • Corrosion resistance
  • Drop strength test
  • Flame exposure test
  • Handle strength test
  • Resistance to petroleum
  • Resistance to stress cracking
  • Hydrostatic pressure/stability test
  • External pressure (vacuum) test
  • Penetration resistance test

Common test methods

  • ASTM F2517 - Standard Specification for Determination Of Child Resistance Of Portable Fuel Containers For Consumer Use
  • ASTM F3326 - Standard Specification for Flame Mitigation Devices on Portable Fuel Containers
  • ASTM F852 / F852M - Standard Specification for Portable Gasoline, Kerosene, and Diesel Containers for Consumer Use
  • AS 1928 - Child-resistant packaging - Requirements and testing procedures for reclosable packages
  • ISO 13127 - Packaging - Child resistant packaging - Mechanical test methods for reclosable child resistant packaging systems
  • HSE (UK) Recommendations on portable fuel storage containers
